We Live…

Why does it so often seem like “living”… Living a full life of cohesiveness and togetherness means that we can’t plan… We can’t worry… We can’t think too far ahead…

Because doing so causes friction… Static and chaos in a world we can’t see… In a world where God is orchestrating our unknown and unplanned…

And though we might want to plan… To know… Well it’s truly just best that we let go..

To give the control we believe we have away… And to just allow God to orchestrate it all…

To allow Him to place our day-to-day, moment-to-moment lives on a track… In a scheme that fits what’s best for not only us… But for humanity and the life we coexist with too…

The last several weeks of life have become such a random color scheme.. And as easy as it might be to control how the colors are being used and mixed… Well I find myself sitting back… Actually going with the flow of randomness… Of the beauty of life that’s being created…

Because when we don’t live with the randomness of life… Well then commotion, conflict and the unexpected can be much more than surprises… They can actually cause us to become frustrated, overwhelmed, annoyed and altogether stressed with the fact that we can’t control the past, present and future…

For me… Well life has continued to surprise me… I keep saying “yes” to what I didn’t plan for… “Yes I will throw my things into a bag last minute and jump on a plane to fly home… Yes, I will open up my home to strangers who might become friends… Yes, I will help celebrate the spontaneity of another’s decision to be bold enough to move from her comfort zone into a new year of life”…

Because somewhere… Somewhere inside of me… Well I’m quickly learning that I have to keep believing in what’s ahead of the unplanned life…

Even though the present and future might cause me to feel altogether uncomfortable…

Because if I don’t continue to let go of the control… Well then life will remain the same… And the thrill of the unknown… Well it won’t be a thrill… Because I planned the thrill…

And I guess… More than anything… I want to keep living a life in the moment… Because it means that I’ll continue to discover who I truly am… How far I can truly go… And the life I can truly cultivate in fullness when I just live…
